Willow Springs Books enthusiastically introduces Canese Jarboe, author of our newest addition to the ACME Poetry Series. Jarboe’s chapbook, dark acre, will officially be released the week of March 12th, and we couldn’t be more excited to share this collection with you! As such, we are now taking preorders for dark acre via our Submittable page.

dark acre is a collection suffused with place and the complications of identity, with the particular joys and trials of rural queerness. At the same time, it eludes these categorizations and their potential reductions. With a precise lyricism and stunning use of imagery, Jarboe’s poems drive, at all costs, toward a daring and authentic empathy. As Robert Wrigley notes, “Enter dark acre with your eyes and ears wide open. Prepare to be instructed, delighted, wounded, and, most of all, astonished.”

Canese Jarboe received their MFA in Poetry from the University of Idaho and currently lives and teaches in Louisiana. Their poems appear in TYPO, Indiana Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, and elsewhere. They are the recipient of several honors and scholarships, including a 2017 nomination for the Pushcart Prize and a scholarship from the Frost Place.
