Sustainable Living Tied for Bronze!

in Independent Publishers Book Awards for Short Fiction

We are thrilled to announce that Sustainable Living by Elsa Nekola has tied for bronze in the Independent Publishers Book Awards for Short Fiction.

Winner of the 2021 Spokane Prize, Elsa Nekola’s debut collection of short stories, Sustainable Living, shines a light on the lives of women in the backwoods and small towns of the upper Midwest. Forced to contend with harsh climates and even harsher realities of poverty and fraught family relations, these characters are united in their shared desire for connection. Nekola’s masterful storytelling invites the reader into what feels like a hidden world of struggle and serendipity.

Elsa Nekola is a writer based in Madison, Wisconsin.
